Because the protagonist's mother died shortly after she was born she had to have a wetnurse, he's that woman's son.
From a young age he was raised together with the protagonist.
He feels indebted towards the protagonist's father for supporting him through school after his own father died.
After he graduated from college he supported the protagonist's father as a secretary but in order to support the protagonist in her new job he transfers to the same company as her.
