Summer vacation begins with the closing ceremony. Leaving behind past glories due to his parents' transfer, the protagonist, Toudou Ao, moves to a new school. His former glory: defeating the entire water polo team and, through unity, achieving a runner-up finish in a district tournament. But that's all history now.
