In the year 200X, a giant chasm called the Hell Hole erupted in central Japan, splitting the seas and twisting the land. Dark B-crystals appeared everywhere, granting superpowers to many, mostly the young. These 'Special Students' became feared, and Japan fell into violence and isolation. A year later, a powerful Special Student united them, forming the Student Union (S.U.) to restore order. But peace was fleeting. Now, the fractured nation is torn between the PGG military, the vampire Nightmare Eyes, the ninja NPI, the fanatical Holy Flame knights, and the sky pirates of Skull Serpents.
