Club advisors play a vital role in ensuring that student involvement within the club is meaningful and productive. The most successful clubs are those in which the advisor takes an active interest in the group. The role of the advisor is to support and help guide the club, not to make decisions for the club. The club advisor serves a dual role in serving both the interests of the club and the school. It is essential that advisors are fully aware of their responsibilities.

The role of the advisor is to provide guidance and oversight of elections and by-laws. Although the advisor does not need to attend all club meetings and events, he or she must sanction all of the club’s activities. In addition, the advisor reserves rooms for club meetings and events and posts these onto the Student Events Calendar.
