Wilhelm Richard Wagner

Wilhelm Richard Wagner (1813–1883) was a German composer and conductor, renowned for his operas, which he called music dramas. He composed both the music and lyrics for his works. Initially recognized within the Romantic tradition, he transformed opera with his Gesamtkunstwerk concept, integrating poetic, musical, visual, and dramatic elements into a seamless sung narrative. His most well-known piece is The Ride of the Valkyries from the music drama called The Valkyrie, which is the second part of the literary cycle called The Ring of the Nibelung.
