The reason Dantalian participates in battles against angels is not for Hell but only because he wishes to fear for his life.

He is a grand duke who leads 36 devil legions but wears a school uniform on purpose so that the enemy would make light of him, and even goes up to Heaven alone, gets ganged up on, and barely manages to come back alive.
