Ophelia

Opelia is a very rich business woman that is friends with Allison (they play bridge together). She is the mother of Annabelle and grandmother of Sophia. The all live in a huge mansion-like house. Opelia's husband is dead.

The protagonist visited her because she offered him a job as an electrician. During his visit, he was constantly harassed by the perpetually angry Annabelle, to the point where he got a nosebleed from her hitting him. After Ophelia tried to admonish Annabelle for hitting a guest, Annabelle instead shouted at her own mother that she hated her. The protagonist had earlier mentioned to Ophelia that Annabelle needed some disciplining and hearing Annabelle's cruel words he obliquely suggested to Ophelia that he should do "what they talked about". Ophelia excused herself from the room, after telling Annabelle to do as the protagonist told her, or she would be without an allowance for six months (which amounts to $90 000, according to Annabelle's later statements). After disciplining Annabelle, the protagonist brought her up to Ophelia's room to have her apologise to her mother, which she did. After Annabelle left the room Ophelia told the protagonist that she should be outraged that he spanked her daughter but that the result was so good that she was going to thank him for it.
