Directly inheriting the blood of Genji Seiwa, the Kira clan is an honourable clan that fulfills the role known as Koke, or Master of ceremonies.

He established his position in the shogunate at a young age by performing well as an adjunct at the abdication of Emperor Go-Sai.

He also has family in the Uesugi clan of the prestigious Echigo school.
