In 2020 Japan, Fujieda Neri lives in the poor district of the 'Ring Area' surrounding Tokyo Bay, leading a modest yet peaceful life. But one day, her only family—her father—vanishes, leaving a cryptic note: 'Go to Kaikyuu Academy.' This prestigious boarding school for children of elite families is meant to nurture future leaders of Japan, yet beneath its luxurious surface lies a ruthless social caste system. At the top reigns the 'Queen' with immense political power, followed by the 'Roses in Full Bloom' (privileged elites), the 'Nameless Honeybees' (commoners), and the 'Ignored Stones' (enslaved outcasts). A student group called the 'Resistance' fights against this hierarchy. As Neri navigates this starkly divided society, she finds love and gradually uncovers a hidden truth about the academy.
