Mimi o Sumaseba

Tetsu moves to a remote island where his grandmother lives, for reasons he'd rather not discuss. In this isolated community of farmers and fishermen, mobile phones are useless. On his first day of school, he walks into class—and freezes. Every student has animal ears?! It turns out the island has a phenomenon called "ear time," occurring every few days, when all residents sprout animal ears and can hear each other's thoughts. Locals are used to it; they just avoid thinking anything embarrassing. But Tetsu is panicking: "Everyone will hear whatever I think...?"
