Years after the end of everything, you awaken once more. Amid the wasteland of what was once Gainesville, Florida, the server tower “Rhode S-32,” housing a generative chatbot and data scraper, is abruptly reactivated by a partially broken companion android named Merope. At that exact moment, a survivor connects to Rhode, using it as their eyes and ears. Stricken with amnesia, they rely solely on the scant data in Rhode’s local database and Merope’s faltering ability to move the server tower on a pushcart to piece together their situation. Compounding the challenge, they can only communicate with Merope through Rhode’s hallucination-prone LLM, and Merope—long detached from human oversight—veers into bizarre conversations herself. The survivor’s sole comfort is Rhode’s century-old video recordings of its teenage creator and her best friend, watched whenever Merope recharges. Their sense of self wavers with each moment connected to Rhode, their goal of “understanding” the only fragile anchor to whatever remains of their identity. With only 73.88 hours before Rhode’s hardware fails, you must choose: learn from the past, or explore the present reality?
