On the small island nation of Arpéchéle, black flowers called Lycoris Noirges bloom—symbols of misfortune. Its people are born with a curse: death at age 23. To fight their doomed fates, they developed a "memory download" system: when a body dies, memories live on in a clone called a "Reliver," granting another 23 years. Our heroine, known as "Death" because everyone she loves dies before the curse takes them, is about to end her own life in despair. But a mysterious man—the "Watchman of Death"—appears before her. Under his guidance, she will unravel the dark secrets behind the island's deaths, unaware that to be loved by Death is to be destined for utter despair.
