The protagonist, a young human man living in the town of Covington.

Suffering from an incurable disease, he was told by his doctor he has only six months to live. To overcome his illness, he sets out to investigate the elves, who are said to live for long ages. The story begins when he encounters an elf deep within the Croft Forest in which he'd wandered.
