Shimenawa Accessory

Shimenawa are lengths of laid rice straw or hemp rope used for ritual purification in the Shinto religion. It vary in diameter from a few centimetres to several metres, and are often seen adorned with shide (traditional paper streamers).

Some clothing accessories are design based on it. A popular example of this accessories is the rope belt worn by the Yokozunas around their waist.
