Eighteen-year-old Maxim Karasev, full of dreams about adulthood, finally moved out of his parents' home. With his modest savings, he rents a shabby apartment in an old, decaying part of the city. Max eagerly anticipates freedom, peace, and the chance to be his own boss — unaware that his new home hides a terrifying secret. His first trip to the store turns sour when he runs into Anatoly (aka Tolik), a former classmate from high school with whom Max shared a hostile history. Now grown into a local thug, Tolik swaggers up to him, claiming the neighborhood is under his "protection" and demanding money — warning of trouble if Max refuses. The encounter leaves Max uneasy. Back in the apartment, odd things start happening. At night, unexplainable rustling and creaks disturb his sleep; icy drafts move through the rooms, even with all windows shut. The old photos on the walls, left by previous tenants, seem to watch him. Once, he feels an undeniable presence nearby, though he's sure he's alone. The atmosphere grows heavy and menacing. Haunted by these paranormal events, Max starts digging into the apartment's history, searching for answers. The mystery tests his courage, forcing him to confront both the inexplicable and his own past.
